Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Piano tuning involves 2 tasks - bringing the piano up to standard pitch and then tuning the piano. I like to understand the history of the piano to reccommend the best process to get your piano back in shape.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained locally and at the national levels to bring you the best skills in piano tuning and repair.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
For the piano that is tuned regularly and near standard pitch a Fine Tuning should be perfect. The rate for a Fine Tuning is $145. For the piano that has not been tuned in some years it will have dropped significantly in pitch. In this case a double tuning is necessary. I make 1 complete pass over all 88 notes to get the piano near standard pitch. Then I make a second pass as to Fine Tune the piano. Leaving out the first step can leave your piano with a tuning that will not last very long. The rate for a Double Tuning is $225.
How did you get started in this business?
I have studied piano since childhood so tuning and repairing pianos was a nautral extension.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
When I choose a professional I enjoy working with someone who if focused on getting the job done without skipping steps. I try to do the same for my clients.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
If you have a piano that has not been tuned in a long time please consider your call to me as an opportunity to get it back on track with regular tunings every 6 months. Youe tunings become more stable and the piano sounds its best at pitch and in tune. Even if the piano isn't played every day, regular runing and maintenance will keep it sounding great for years to come.
