What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It is crucial with new patients to establish a baseline by which to measure any changes in your pet’s health. That is why we recommend a complete physical examination for all pets on their first visit to our office, followed by regular examinations thereafter to monitor your pet’s health. For senior pets, as well as pets with certain medical conditions, we recommend more frequent examinations.
The first-time and periodically recurring examinations will also allow us to identify any potential problems before they reach an advanced stage, improving the likelihood of a speedy and successful recovery. These examinations involve inspecting your pet over from head-to-toe, feeling for any bumps or lumps which may be located on either the inside or the outside of the body, checking the ear canal using an otoscope, examining the eyes with an ophthalmoscope, checking for diseases of the teeth or gums, and listening to your pet’s heart and lungs to ensure that they are functioning normally.
Please bring in any and all of your pet’s medical history that you have to your pet’s first visit. This history will give us a better understanding of your pet’s health, and thus improve our ability to care for your pet. This includes your pet’s vaccination history. We need to be aware of the diseases against which he or she is protected. If you have something like this history, please share it with our team.
