I love teaching people canine logic. Dogs already "get it" unless they've been subject to unsuitable conditions. It's both nature and nurture. I always say that what I teach is not difficult, it is diliberate. Almost anyone can be taught how to be a good leader for their dog!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask new clients to create a list of what needs to be addressed. I ask for the list to be prepared in advance of our first meeting so things can be documented as they occur in the home/outside so our list is as comprehensive as possible.
A little hint here - the people that take the time to write a list succeed. The people who take the time to type and print it out excel!!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
15 years of professional training experience. Moved to Colorado to study amongst red and grey wolves even! Thousands of hours and thousands of dogs in experience. I also ran a kennel for over 10 years and boarded over 8,000 dogs giving me exposure to endless new scenarios in behavior!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started in this business?
Dogs have always reacted differently around me and I never understood why. As a child, I was doing formal training techniques and didn't even know it. I also did things that were downright crazy, and some dangerous, but hey, I was a kid!
I had a calling into this. I even remember, at age 12, an inner voice telling me I was supposed to be in front of people. Having gone to Catholic school, and having an aunt who was a Domenican nun in Rome, I thought it was a calling to be a priest and blocked it out for a number of years before realizing what it was and here I am!
What types of customers have you worked with?
Dog training requires acute understanding of people even more so than dogs. I work with multigeneration households, training dogs in foreign languages, children with cerebral palsy, adults with spinal chord injuries, deaf clients using an interpreter. The list is quite extensive, but these are just a few.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have learned a technique that allows young children to safely walk their dogs and it melts my heart each time to watch it unfold, especially since I created the technique through ingenuity.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I schedule weekly dog socilization walks in the park. I have been doing these walks since 2008 (time flies). I welcome someone to come out to meet me in person, meet my dogs, as well as my clients and their dogs!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
There are numerous styles of dog training. I know the proper questions to ask to make sure I am the best fit for a person's expectations and needs.
I love giving advice in this area as it is not about me, but the dog. Giving advice that may steer someone in a different direction happens, but people realize I am giving them the most solid advice as I'm turning business away in their dog's best interest!
