Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New clients can call or email to set up an appointment. The day of your appointment we ask you please bring in your pets current vaccination records (Rabies required unless medically exempt, Bordetella and Distemper are recommended). We also ask for a list of any medications or sedatives your pet may be on and health issues, should there be an emergency having this information on hand will help us provide appropriate care for your pet. You should expect to spend about 10 minutes with the groomer to go over your pets history and what services you would like to have done. We will also do an entrance exam on your pet to give a baseline idea on his/her temperament and get a good feel for your pets coat and skin condition.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 5 years of grooming history with dogs and cats. I was trained through Petco's training program and take classes about every 6 months to keep up to date with the current standards of the trade and to refresh any safety training. I have taken behavioral training courses to be able to accommodate aggressive dogs and help determine why the dog may be acting a certain way.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
All of our prices are dependent on the individual pet. Bathing prices start at about $20 and can range to $45 and up. Full service grooming starts at $40 and can range to $100 and up. Special requests, hand scissoring, premium shampoos may be charged as an addon.
How did you get started in this business?
I started in the trade following my passion for animals. As the years have gone on my love for what I do has grown. I take every opprotunity I can to expand my learning and truly love what I do.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all sorts of dogs from new rescues who are scared and matted to show grooming in which I currently compete.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Be your own judge. Although friends and family may give wonderful recommendations only you know your pet best. If you think something may upset your pet bring up your concerns to your new groomer and don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. If a groomer avoids answering or your gut is telling you something is off ask yourself why. A good safe salon will allow you view the holding, bathing, and grooming areas, they should not have anything to hide. The only exception to that would be where ylurnsaftey would be compromised due to an aggressive animal.
