What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we come to your home and give you a free estimate or a consultation, depending on the work you want done.
Then we listen to your ideas and put a plan together with you. We also show you samples of products you can use and where you can source products.
We then put together an estimate of the work you want done and send it to your email so you can look it over.
Lastly, we call you to discuss the estimate in case you have any questions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have continued education in many products.
One is a certification for roofing installations where we can offer a 50 yr warranty that does not pro-rate.
How did you get started in this business?
When I was in my twenties I started working for remodeling companies. Learning the trade from the inside out. I then became Certified in Interior Design from one school and one College. I've worked on the job sites helping my guys as well.
Being a woman in this industry, has always been a struggle that I have overcome and I am proud of myself for that.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Many types and I've enjoyed every one of them!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Working with a customer doing their kitchen remodel. You get such a sense of pride when it's completed and my customer is just beaming with happiness!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Always check to see if they are licensed and insured. Ask for proof. Also in PA you can look up a person's name or a company name on the Attorney Generals Website. All home improvement contractors must be licensed in the state of PA. If someone comes to your house their trucks, signage, paperwork and business cards must have their HIC license number on them.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Ask if the pro is licensed and insured. Ask them to show you proof which you can later check.
Make a list of your ideas and what you are thinking about doing. Sometimes what you want to do isn't feasible. Like removing a load bearing wall.
Also what their time frame is to start and complete your project. You may be planning a vacation in the upcoming weeks or months. Or want to start a kitchen remodel and want to know how long you will be without your stove.
