Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process begins with a phone consultation to schedule a meet and greet with you and your dog. After, private lessons are scheduled based on your needs and availability. From there we continue with the best strategy to achieve all your training goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working in animal care and training for ten years. I'm a certified veterinary technician as well as an AKC Canine Good Citizen and trick dog evaluator. I began training as a volunteer for corgi rescue,a ensuring dogs were able to continue to their forever homes with manners and obedience in place. I continued on working under top professional trainers. I've trainer multiple service dogs for individuals with disabilities with an organization and on my own. I later developed dog trainer internship courses to help others achieve their goals of becoming dog trainers. I've also worked with Central Oklahoma Humane Society, as well as many Dog Boarding and Daycare facilities. Dogs and their care is my passion and gift!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is based on the type of training needed. Quotes can be given during the phone consultation process.
How did you get started in this business?
My first sentence as a child was "I want a puppy." My life has gone to the dogs from the start!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with people and dogs of all sorts! All breeds are welcome in my book.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had the pleasure of working with a woman and her five dogs. Each one was quite large, almost outweighing all five feet of her. She had been walking each one at a time due to reactivity and lack of leash manners. After a lesson a Saturday for a month, she was able to safely walk all five through the neighborhood with no issues!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Ask lots of questions! There are many different types of trainers out there that will use different methods, differying amounts of experience, and spend varying amounts of time working with your dog. It's important to find the right fit for your needs.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
The number one question to ask is what tools does the trainer use. If it's not something you would be comfortable to use yourself, the training won't be very useful in the end.
