About
I obtained my Bachelors degree in Architectural Design and Engineering in 2006. Since then I have worked with a number of local architects and engineers designing some amazing homes and structures. I also started Guyer Properties, in 2008 and I own and manage several investment properties from Syracuse, NY to Oswego, NY. In 2013 I decided I wanted to set my own hours and answer to my wife only, so I went back to school and started J Guyer Home Inspections. With my strong background in architecture and working with investment properties, inspecting was already second nature to me. I enjoy meeting new people every day, and most of all I sincerely enjoy helping and teaching people all about home ownership and maintenance. Buying a home for most people is the largest investment they will ever make. Don't just settle for the inspector with the lowest fee, do some research, read reviews and select the one with the best tools to help you make an informed decision.
I love meeting new people. I always like to hear about your housing search and how you got to where you are. Many people often appologise for asking too many questions during an inspection, I love getting questions. I enjoy explaining how furnaces and water heaters work. I encourage you to attend your inspection, ask as many questions as you'd like. buying a house is a huge investment. During the inspection is the best time to figure out exactly how your home works, the good the bad and the ugly.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories. i especially love getting those housing related questions. if i cant answer it i'll find someone that can. Once you hire me as your inspector I can usually get your inspection done within the next few days.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I obtained my bachelors degree in architecture in 2006. Since then i have worked with many gifted architects and engineers designing very beautyful homes. In 2008 my wife and I started a property rental and management business and it quickly grew to over 30 properties that we owned and self managed. I quickly learned how to diagnose and fix just about anything pertaining to residential construction. I quickly realized i couldnt be in two places at once and decided to hire additional help to peform day to day duties, giving me free time to start a new endeavor. In 2013 I went back to school to train as a home inspector. Since opening in late 2013 i have performed nearly 2000 inspections (as of early 2019) all over the state. I'd love to help you with your inspection, Give me a call today! 315-790-0666.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Its tempting to hire based on price alone. With buying a house being so expensive little is left over for an inspection, but it is possibly one of the most important areas to not skimp on. a good inspector isnt going to always be the lowest priced. Always check for online unbiased reviews and ask about qulifications.
