About
Hi! I'm Michelle. After working in medical for several years and then managing a dental office, I decided to follow my passion and work with dogs full-time. I am certified in Pet Grooming through the New York Academy of Pet Styling in Victor. My favorite groom appointments are desheds with an outline trim (think Golden Retrievers!) but I love to work with dogs of all sizes and needs. Feel free to check out my work on my Instagram, the_bark_lodge_grooming and my Facebook as well. If you have any specific concerns or requests for your pup, please contact me!

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Prices vary based on the size and condition of the dog as well as the complexity of the style. When you call to schedule your appointment, I will do my best to give you an approximate price estimate.
How did you get started in this business?
About a year ago, I brought home my puppy, Theo. I had been bored with my career and she made me realize I want to work with dogs all the time! I met another local groomer who let me shadow her and confirm this is what I wanted to do. Not long after shadowing, I signed up for school and began grooming for myself after graduating!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with lots of different types of dogs, from small puppies to large Newfoundlands. I love them all! Because I am able to work one on one with dogs, I am also able to accommodate dogs who have special needs and seniors.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Last week I groomed a deaf/blind senior Australian Shepherd. He was shedding badly and hadn't been groomed in some time. Even though he wasn't able to hear or see me, I showed him that he could trust me and I was able to help him feel so much better! It also helped with his family's issue of having hair all around the house.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Confirm the credentials of the person caring for your pet - are they certified? Who did they train under? Do they have first aid training?
Also make sure to let your groomer know of any health or behavioral concerns for your dog so that we can take the best care of them possible.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
See above! Also it is not a bad idea to confirm with your groomer what kind of location they work at for the best care for your dog - is it a busy salon? Out of their home? Do they come to you? Will dogs be waiting for a while before their groom starts?
