FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I start with an initial consulatation to see if we have a good fit. If we decide to work together, we will delve more deeply into the scope of the project and how I can help bring the project to fuition.  I almost always start with a floor plan and go from there.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I studied architecture at the University of Virginia and I always bring that focus to projects.  I am also a classical pianist and feel that all the arts are related to interior design.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

I will discuss that when you contact me.

How did you get started in this business?

I came to New York after studting architecture and theatre at the University of Virginia.  During my studies at Mannes College of Music I met the noted designer Arthur Weinstein who needed an assistant.  That relationship eventually turned into a business partnership.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with clients all over the world, with projects in New York, Paris, Palm Beach, Park City, Sun Valley and Tel Aviv.  Many cultured professionals who are too busy to manage projects themselves and are also looking for guidance.

Describe a recent project you are fond of.

I recently completed a project in East Hampton for a favorite client.  They had moved in with the builder-supplied furniture a few years before and were ready for a top-to-bottom redo.  They wanted a relaxed atmosphere and also quiet elegance.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

The relationship between a designer and a client is an intimate one.  In addition to making sure your styles are potentially harmonious, you should feel comfortable and at ease.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

Having clarity about the scope of work is always helpful, although thst often expands once a project begins in earnest.  Also, having a realistic idea of your budget will avoid problems down the road.  The designer can help you manage this.
