Positive Canine Training, LLC
About
Dog Training and Behavior Consulting is an unregulated business. Anyone can call themselves a dog trainer. But not everyone should. When you hire me to train your dog you have the confidence that you are working with a certified professional. I am certified by the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers, a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer, A Certified Behavior Consultant (Dognostic Career Center) and an evaluator for the AKC Good Citizen Test and a Therapy Dog Evaluator. My experience, certifications, and education should give you the confidence that only the most effective and humane methods will be used while working with your dog.
I have extensive experience training all types of dogs from teaching basic manners to puppies and older dogs all the way up to more advanced obedience skills like the Canine Good Citizen test and Therapy Dog Test preparation and testing.
I also work with a variety of behavior issues like separation anxiety, fears, phobias, adult house training issues, and aggression. Clients can choose from a variety of classes and/or in-home private training programs.
I love working with dogs of all ages and breeds. Each dog and family are a new challenge. I love showing new puppy owners how to integrate their new puppy into the family and show them how to make him or her the best dog ever.
I also enjoy helping people work through behavior issues. It really makes my heart sing to take a scared anxious dog and help them interact in the world with a new sense of confidence and the skills to meet their fears without acting out. It is wonderful to take a dog who previously barked and lunged on a leash and see them able to play with other dogs or just enjoy a stress-free walk. Let's talk and see how I can help you help your dog be the best they can be.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically start with a free phone call to discuss the issues, the clients training goal and let them learn a bit more about me and how I can help. We then set up an initial in-home consultation where we further identify the issues, develop a training plan and beginning training. I come with printed information and work with the clients on the issues most pressing to them first.
Puppies and dogs not requiring behavior modification can join group class without in home assessment or training.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have years of formal training starting with a 2 year Dog Training and Behavior Modification program. Since then I have supplemented my initial training with hundreds of hours of additional training. I am constantly upgrading my training with books, webinars, professional conferences, and courses. I have taken advanced courses in working with separation anxiety, fearful and phobic behaviors, aggression, trick dog training, therapy dog training and most recently service dog training.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would look at the trainer's background, ask questions about their education, experience, and methodology.
