I am a Certified Canine Behavior Counselor and Dog Trainer. There are many dog trainers out there that focus only on the commands a dog needs to learn so we can communicate with them. My focal point and strength is on canine behavior since it is the behavior issues that "land" these poor dogs into the shelters and foster homes. Territorial, Dominance, Food/Guarding, Interdog Aggression and Separation Anxiety are the most common behavior issues that I deal with. And yes...they are positively correctible!
What I love the most about the work that I do is the surprise in one of my client's face of how easy it is to turn an undesirable behavior into a desirable one! At first they are so distraught, scared and confused and I fully understand that. They are scared they are going to have to give their dog up due to these very serious dog behavior issues. But once I start explaining dog behavior vs. human...they we begin working with their dog...the results are almost instantaneous! I love to see the dog's eyes calm down and the owner's having the leadership position back due to their new understanding. I just LOVE to sit back and watch the beatiful outcome of the human and canine bond and love.
t has been several years since my dog Darby has needed Adena's services. Thanks to Adena's vast knowledge and expertise, Darby was ultimately trained as a therapy dog and enriched the lives of many senior citizens and disabled individuals. Thanks Adena
Adena is wonderful! I have used her with all my dogs, since 2001 until now! We have done puppy, basic obedience, advance, and even her trick training class. She also worked with my friend's aggressive dog and he has been great for over seven years! She had a talent with all dogs, especially ones with aggression.
We recently used Adena on the reference of a family friend and after only 2 sessions we had amazing results with our dog! We had previously used other trainers and classes with little or no results with correcting behavior and spending almost $1000 before finding Adena. She was prompt and followed up with us afterwards. Her prices were very reasonable and more importantly she delivered on her promise to correct our dog's behavior. I would highly recommend her.
Adena's education and training in regards to food aggression, dog to dog aggression, territorial aggression, and guarding issues was wonderful! I was able to manage my dogs for 13 years after she intervened. It wasn't just a few sessions. She was able to provide support for ongoing changes in my routine throughout my dogs' lives. Marriage, children, moving, and life happens; all while we have our pets. Adena was a major support in allowing me to keep and manage my dogs. There isn't an overnight fix. I made a lifestyle change to live and understand dog behavior. She is a wealth of knowledge. She had seen extreme cases and she speaks on behalf of our pets. Be willing to change habits and how you communicate with your dog. Once you have an obedient companion you will be forever grateful you did.
At first I speak with the client on the phone and allow them to tell me what is going on in the home with their dog. We then set a date/tiime up for me to come into the home to meet the entire family who are "hands on" with the dog and I ask many questions at first. Then I give out my handouts and explain how dogs think and learn and how we as humans perceive what we feel is right to reward in our dogs. We begin to work with the dog. I start at first to get the dog "up and running" and then I watch the family do the same thing one by one until they feel comfortable. It is one session per week and the family is to begin the new regimen at once! Results are inevitable!
