How did you get started in this business?
I was pet sitting for friends and overtime I began to fall in love with watching , training and taking care of pets because I began to see that I had a natural talent for it .
What types of customers have you worked with?
Professional Magicians who would go on tour
Some families I watched their dogs for up to a year when they went on tours
weekly for friends
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Taking care of a friends wolf hybrids and her poms , her wolves were sacred of most people but my approach in understanding canine behavior allowed me to gain her Wolves trust.
i also watched four poms up to one year when a professional family had to go on tour for a year .
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Always look as ask other people they watched their animals for
drive to the care takers community to see if they really live there ( there are scams out there where people will tell you they watch dogs and stay at a house for a week or month so they can steal your dogs - it’s very scary - be aware.)
di an interview at your home so you can see how your dogs respond around the person , if they seem afraid or scared that’s a huge sign dogs can sense if people can’t be trusted or if they sense the people are aggressive - always trust your dogs instinct .)
go and visit the care takers home to see if it smells good and what kind of sanitizing measures they use everyday . Without proper cleaning disease can Spread , if there are smells in the person’s home it’s a sign they are not doing proper cleaning .
ask the care taker how they clean or sanitize your dogs paws to keep them healthy .
also never let caretakers take your dogs to parks , it is there that your dogs can easily get away and also come home sick - it’s just not safe .
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
1. Can you pick up and drop off ?
2. What can kind behavior modification do you use ? Do you use positive reinforcement ?
3. How many times a day will my dogs go outside ?
4. Do you do an overall health check ? Do you look at their gums to make sure their blood sugar isn’t dropping ?
5. Do monitor the dogs and play with them ?
6. What kind of procedure do you use if two dogs get in a scuffle over a toy ?
7. Do you clean and sanitize the toys ?
8. Ask to contact their veterinarians to see how well they take care of their own pets and do they actually have pets of their own - this is a huge indicator of someone really takes good care of their dogs
