Gaia brings both heart and wisdom to her work with dogs AND people. She is the person a friend and I turned to when we rescued a neglected, highly anxious, skittish, confused dog a few years ago. Over time Gaia forged a bond with the furry one that is of expertise, strength, and love. He has become able to walk with grace on the leash, has learned sit, lay, be still as the collar and leash is put on prior to a walk, is able to go up onto the couch or bed with a hand pat and UP! He is able to snuggle and play and climb tree trunks with joy and freedom. It is clear he finally feels safe, and much of this can be attributed to Gaia’s work.
Also important is that Gaia not only works with the dog, but with the human companions. Part of the work is learning the language of dogs, the mentality of dogs. Gaia was able to impart her knowing in a way that was easy to adopt, though like doggie dog, she needed to use some repetition - even with us humans!
I would recommend Gaia without reservation and again.

Frequently asked questions

We begin with an "Initial Assessment." I use a form and I fill it out while we chat in person and I get to know your pup. It is extensive but it lets me know you and your dog from every angle. We will work a bit in that session, and then I will formulate a Training Plan for you.

I engaged in an intense, 3-year apprenticeship with Santa Fe Dog Trainer David Crosby. This is something I immersed myself in. He worked me hard. He was not an easy task-master. We worked a lot: with dogs, giving free community classes, with other trainers and search & rescue teams, and volunteering at Monte del Sol Charter School mentoring teens in Scent Detection and Basic Dog Skills 101. I have five of my own dogs and I take care of two dogs who I had rehabbed from their not-so-great lives.
