Steve has been in the pool industry since 1972. There is little that he hasn't already seen. Winner of the Sylvan Pools Franny Award for operating a highly successful franchise organization of Sylvan Pools and patent-pending holder for a bonding device for the pool industry.
Stephen has worked for Sylvan Pools as an Associate Builder and has operated a Spa and Pool service company for many years. Pool Inspections has always been a part of Stephen's responsibilities since 1972 and in 1990 incorporated "Toff's Pool Inspections" as a stand-alone inspection business, possibly the first in the industry. It has been established that Toff's Pool Inspection Company has assembled and maintained the most complete library of swimming pool standards since the mid-1950's.
Recognized as a leader in the Pool Inspection business in providing detailed reports that have been referred to as a future guideline for maintaining and repairing customers' spas and pools. In establishing detailed outlines and reports for both inground pools and spas and explanations that are easy for customers to understand, he has been called and considered the "Grandfather" of In-Ground Pool Inspections.
Stephen and his wife Kim attend all the inspections. They have developed methods to allow them to seamlessly do winter pool inspections also.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We let our customers know that a detailed written report will follow our inspection. No one has to be home and it is up to the client if they want to be present or not. (Sometimes "time" is of the essence and the client can't make it to the inspection and that is alright.)
In the winter we methodically remove only half the cover at a time. This avoids any concerns about a heavy gust of wind dislodging the cover from its position. This helps maintain control over the cover.
We try our best to accommodate the customer's request for a certain time but we have to keep in mind that we need daylight and it could take from 3 to 5 hours to complete an inspection.
Payment is requested at the end of the inspection and a credit card on the phone is accepted.
