About
Tired and a bit disillusioned by Corporate HR work, Design by Michele got it’s start when I decided to follow my passion for style and design and start my own business.
It’s a very intimate thing to have someone invite you into their home and trust you to deliver on a shared vision. My job as a designer is to translate the client’s likes, wants and needs into their project. A big part of this is to listen and ask a lot of questions to gain a full understanding of my client's end goals. I enjoy helping my clients create rooms that fit their lifestyle and that they love to live their life in. I’m always honored and humbled when I am hired to transform the space that someone will enjoy for years to come!
Since 2009, Design by Michele has helped clients create rooms and spaces they love.
Michele is a Mom, Wife, and Interior Designer. Usually two or three of those at the same time.
By far, my fave part of my job is "installation day". This is the day all of the furniture, accessories, etc. is delivered to the client and we put it all together. Or if a kitchen/bath job, it's the day we get all the accessories in and have a fully functional room. I love seeing clients' faces when they realize they get to live in the new, beautiful space.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet my client's in the space they are looking to transform. We chat and talk about the project for a bit, then, if we both think we will work well together, we move forward with getting all of the important info together. Likes, dislikes, styles, budget are all discussed. At that point, if we have decided to work together, I will go away and come back with a proposal or two that begins as a working document. We keep working on the design until the client is satisfied.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BFA - Interior Design
8+ years of experience
How did you get started in this business?
I have always had a passion for spaces. How to make them comfortable (if that is the desire) or efficient or workable. Or simply beautiful. I practiced for years on family members and my own homes, went back to school for a second degree, until I decided to try to make a go of it professionally. It's the best professional decision I have ever made. I have worked steadily, nearly all by word of mouth, since.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have done projects as small as picking paint colors, to large, multiple room additions.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Your interior designer will work very closely with you, so you need to find someone you are comfortable with, who you can say No to without feeling awkward. I always like to know what my clients like, but also as important is what they don't like.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
