What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Traditionally trained Interior Designers on staff and members of ASID. Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture and Interior Design.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
When hiring an Interior Designer its important to understand that designers offer many services. We create functional, safe and aesthetically pleasing environments that make the end user comfortable. Many designers work hourly as many of their tasks take time to complete. Hiring a designer sounds glamorous to many but it is not an easy job. Know your project budget and factor in the hourly cost. If your project is less than $10,000 than you may be better off with a design consultation for a couple of hours to answer all your questions then to hire a designer.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Always know your budget and whether or not you need project management for your project. Be very descriptive in your request and don't be afraid to say what your budget is. Many designers do not take small projects. Ask your self, why exactly do I need a designer? Do I need a space plan, with a mood board and full list of furniture? Do I need decorating or full service design with construction documents? Knowing the level of service you need will help you save money and get your project completed faster.
