Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet the client and his/her dog in a Meet and Greet a few days prior to the booking. This gives the client a chance to meet my 3 small dogs and myself and my husband, and to view the property and the home where their dog will be staying. Each client fills out a profile about their dog.
FYI - I do NOT have any children in the home. I do NOT have cats or any other pets.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have owned dogs my whole life, different breeds. I did obedience training with my Dalmatian, and then with my Papillon. I titled my Papillon in Obedience with AKC title of "Companion Dog" I was a past member of the Mid-Jersey Companion Dog Training Club and a past member of the Delaware Valley Papillon Club. I also own a Cavachon (mix of Bichon and Cavalier Spaniel) and two Papillons.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
$30 per day with FREE overnights. You must pick up your dog the following morning between 8am and 9am to avoid paying for a second day. Drop offs are between 8:00am ET and 8:00pm ET. Pick ups are no later than 9:00pm ET.
How did you get started in this business?
Just loving dogs. I love training them. I love being with them. I work at home all day, so I can be home with all the dogs. I like to keep the group very small, no more than two guest dogs at a time.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Friends, neighbors, many customers through the Rover website. All ages. All kinds.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When a repeat guest dog comes over and are SO HAPPY to see me, and they lick my face and wag their tail and curl up on my lap when we watch TV in the evening.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
BE SURE the person has experience and NOT doing this "just for the money." BE SURE they really love dogs and have owned several. BE SURE the other dogs in their house are friendly. Do not mix small dogs with very large dogs.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Where do the dogs sleep? Do you use cages? How many dogs have you owned in your life? Have you ever trained a dog in Obedience? Is your yard fenced? Do you have children in your house? Do you have any other pets?
