Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet homeowners at their job site, home, kitchen, etc. We will measure, see the specific condition of the home and only then can we give a bonafide estimate for the project.
We show our clients samples of laminate flooring or tile, cabinets, granite and other surfaces we work with, windows, etc., so they can make an informed decision.
If there are pre-existing conditions such as rotted joists or mold under the flooring or behind the walls, we need to address these with the homeowner.
We can't quote prices without seeing the job and you should not trust anybody that tells you they will quote you without seeing the work in person.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have been in this business since 1988 and have seen almost everything there is to see in residential and commercial remodeling; we've successfully performed full rehabs of properties, kitchens, baths, hurricane windows, monster structural issues, underpinning, basement finishing, flooring and others.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Material prices are standard in our business. But the cost of labor fluctuates greatly from job to job. With that in mind, we have found that so-called 'standard pricing' on jobs usually needs to be revised if we have not seen the work site needed to be remodeled. In other words, the price of a window we're installing may be the same as others, but the labor needed to tear out the rotted frame, sill, sheetrock on a job will vary.
We are professionals and conduct ourselves accordingly with the highest levels of service to our clients.
We have remodeling 'down to a science'.
How did you get started in this business?
In 1988 I started by working for Sunbrite Construction in Cherry Hill, NJ. After approximately 6 months, I opened my own general contracting firm in Cinnaminson, NJ. We were located in the same office for 15 years before moving.
We have extensive experience in general contracting and home remodeling. Our specialties are kitchens, baths, flooring, windows (both replacement and hurricane impact). We visit our suppliers and manufacturers on a regular basis for new ideas and solutions in remodeling.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Every type of customer...those that know exactly what they want down to the color of their backsplash and tile, to homeowners that allow us more license to suggest design changes that we think they'll love.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We finished a kitchen, a typical demo and install with no complications (as usual). The homeowner met me at the job to sig-off and said, "I knew it was going to be nice, but I had NO IDEA that it would be this gorgeous!!"
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Set a budget in your mind. Ask lots and lots of questions (we love to answer), TRUST us with your home...we love what we do and you will see our pride in the end result.
DO NOT work with any contractor that is not licensed and insured ($1,000,000 minimum).
DO NOT work with any contractor that asks you for substantial funds at the beginning of the job. This is a HUGE red flag.
ONLY work with a contractor that offers financing, whether or not you use their financing source/s. This is usually proof that the contractor is far-above-average in stability.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Does the company that you are thinking about using offer financing? Only the best contractors are approved by finance companies to offer homeowners an easy way to pay for their remodeling project. Contractors must pass a thorough yearly vetting and background check to make sure that they are financially sound, experienced and knowledgeable in not only remodeling but also various financing options can be offered to prospective clients.
