For nearly eight years, Dogtopia of Charlotte has provided dog parents with a safe and fun place to leave their dog or pamper their pup. We are an open play dog daycare, boarding facility, and spa. Basically, we’re your one-stop shop to spoil your dog! Our friendly and knowledgeable team is highly trained in providing both dogs and their parents with a safe, healthy and fun environment.
We designed our facilities with your dog’s comfort in mind. Our climate-controlled playrooms feature flooring made of compressed rubber, a material that is easy on their foot pads. It is also provides a soft walking surface, something that is beneficial for dogs suffering hip dysplasia and other bone and joint conditions. And because of our special rubber flooring, you don’t have to worry about it impacting your housetraining in any way.
Dog owners can check in on their pets throughout the day via our webcams, which can be accessed from your PC or smartphone. Our webcams let you keep an eye on your dog and see that they’re having fun and making new friends. We even have an app available to watch the webcams or make reservation requests!
To ensure your dog’s safety, our playrooms are staffed by our fantastic dog care professionals. Dogtopia room attendants go through rigorous training in dog behavior, so they know the language of dogs and how to safely run a room. Safety is our number one priority, because dogs have to be safe before they can have any fun!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
WELCOME TO DOGTOPIA!
We are excited to meet you and your pup for your Meet & Greet! Please remember to submit our Registration Form in advance of your Meet & Greet so we can prepare for your visit! To begin, just follow these three easy steps:
3 EASY STEPS:
- Schedule a Meet & Greet – Call (704)323-8486 to schedule a Meet & Greet which will include a tour of our facility as well as an evaluation for your dog.
- Complete the Registration Form – Use our fillable form to complete the Registration Form and send back via email in advance of your visit. This is our way of getting to know more about your pup and prepare for your visit! Have more than one pup? Use our Additional Dog Form!
Note: Use Adobe Reader or a Microsoft Edge browser on a PC to save and return the Registration Form via email. Mobile devices or tablets will not save the data. - Ensure Required Vaccinations are Up to Date – Don’t have a copy? No problem. We are happy to call your veterinarian for you! Must-have vaccinations:
- Bordetella
- DHPP/Parvo
- Rabies
WHAT TO EXPECT:
On Meet & Greet day, you will bring your dog(s) to the facility and it is very important to bring the dog on a leash or slip lead with a collar/harness when you enter the lobby. The evaluation process with your dog takes 20-30 minutes with our trained evaluator. During this time, we would love to show you around, address your questions and you can even watch the playroom cameras!
EVALUATION INCLUDES:
- Wellness check
- Response to staff touch/interaction
- Comfort level in a crate*
- Reaction in “open play” setting with other dogs of varying size, breed, and temperament
- Overall observations
The process is very easy and there is nothing to be nervous about at Dogtopia – we just want to get to know your pup better!
PLEASE BRING:
- Your dog(s) on a leash with a collar or harness upon entry.
- We appreciate receiving the Registration Forms in prior to your visit, but if you have not emailed the Registration Form or vaccination records in advance, please bring them with you.
Because dogs are a really big deal to us, Evaluation Day at Dogtopia is fun for the whole family – consider it an introduction to our open-play environment perfectly suited for your pup’s fitness and social life. In fact, don’t be surprised if your furry child meets his or her BFFF (best furry friend forever) while you’re here!
NOTE: All dogs must be at least 12 weeks of age AND current on required vaccinations (Rabies, DHLPP/DHPP and Bordetella). Dogs older than 7 months must be spayed or neutered.
*Crates are used for rest, naptime, boarding, and feedings

How did you get started in this business?
After volunteering in Louisiana with dogs displaced by Hurricane Katrina, Dogtopia of Charlotte's owner Nicole Odom grew passionate about opening her own business. She paired her military life with her personal life to arrive at the perfect career: a dog daycare franchisee. Her own Akita, coincidentally named Katrina, had attended daycare at Dogtopia of Tysons Corner, VA for some time. Nicole enjoyed the atmosphere and consummate service she received there and felt it would be a natural fit for her own entrepreneurial adventure. In March 2010, Dogtopia of Charlotte opened its doors.
