Dawg Dayz Retreat
About
Hello!
We are a home-based, full service, dog care business. Your dog joins our family for training, boarding, or daycare fun while staying with us, in our home.
We offer balanced, safe, secure and sanitary play environments. We've been in business for over 10 years, have a 4.9 star average client rating, and an A+ Better Business Bureau rating. We have never had a dog fight where dogs have needed veterinary care, ever! And we plan to keep it that way. Dogs have a blast, but we are very interactive and intentional with everything we do to keep them safe.
We have an experienced trainer on site 24 hours per day. Our lead trainer has over 30 years' experience training horses and dogs. Our lead and owner studied with Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer, as well as, other prominent trainers. We love what we do and keep current in our field.
We are located on gorgeous acreage in the heart of the Cary/Apex/Holly Springs area of NC. Our outdoor play areas are varied, from small to expansive to meet the needs of most dogs. A full-day temperament assessment is required to join our pack family to keep everyone satisfied and safe.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We have people who are interested in partnering with us to come for a free visit. We show them all areas and dogs at play, having fun, making friends, with our coaching. We answer questions and set up the daycare date for the temperament assessment of they decide to go forward. Either way, we're happy to show off the amazing play environment we've created!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been training dogs and horses for over 30 years. I have trained with prominent trainers, such as, Cesar Milan, and stay current in my field.
with that said, every dog is an individual and we cater our training and daily coaching with that in mind.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Standard pricing is available on the website. You may also call 616.291.9472 to soak with the owner.
How did you get started in this business?
I was a business professor and finally took my own advice. I now do what I love every day!❤️
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with clients who are interested in helping their dog be all he or she can be. Dog psychology is utilized all day long to bring out the best in all of our campers. They learn obedience and socialization very organically here as they play.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I can't wait to start the adventure that is every day when you work with animals. I could write for hours about best moments, but it's much more fun to share stories in person as they relate to their dog.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Be careful. Meet with as many trainers as you have time. Don't go with the trainers that force compliance with shock collars. That does not create connection nor does it build your relationship with your canine friend and companion. Everything we do adds to the base of trust that every dog must have with their human caretakers to be balanced, respectful and happy.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Reflect on your goals. Make a list. Discuss with potential trainers. Good trainers should be completely transparent. Find someone who offers a training lifetime guarantee. Ask questions. Refer to reviews. Talk with previous clients. Then trust your gut.😊
