What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Doggone Kennel opened in 1981, offering grooming and boarding with individual care and personal attention year round.
Grooming:
Our Grooming services are designed to make your pet look and feel its best. Grooming for dogs and cats is available five days a week – We don’t groom on Wednesday or Sunday. Consistent grooming will help ensure your pet’s health and happiness. Grooming will also help matting and relieve excess shedding. The frequency of grooming will depend on the breed. To ensure your pet gets the attention he or she deserves, we groom by appointment only. When we’ve finished the grooming, you will receive a phone call letting you know your pet is fresh, clean, and ready to come home.
Boarding:
Your pet is kept in a comfortable, climate-controlled indoor doggy condo. The kennel is heated, and an attic fan keeps your dog cool during the dog days of summer.Your pet is secure at Doggone. The Owners live on-site and the facility is equipped with security cameras. We also require all boarders be up to date on vaccinations, including DHLPP and Rabies shot records. During your pet’s stay your camp counselor will keep you up-to-date on the status of your pet. You’ll receive a text or e-mail with photos of your pet, their report card, and other details from your counselor.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Worked with a veterinarian while in High School.
Went to Master Dog Grooming School in Redford Michigan.
Breed and raise Basset Hounds.
Trained Basset Hounds for obedience, rally, tracking, barn hunt and agility.
Have the top 2018 AKC agility Basset Hound.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
For Grooming we do not have a standard price, because each pet is different.
Boarding rates ar per day and depend on the number pf pets and length of stay.
How did you get started in this business?
A veterinarian recommended me to go into grooming & boarding.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Anyone with a pet(s) dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, ferrets, pot belly pigs, goats, ducks, chickens, rodents and reptiles.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Ask lots of questions about the facility (How many years at this location?). Ask your vet about the facilities you are thinking about. Ask neighbors, relatives, co-workers and friends who they use and who they used and disliked.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What they really want done with their pet, then ask pro if they have done that before. Use pictures to explain what you want.
