Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I need to talk to my customers find out information about their baby and what they're looking for. I also need to meet the dog to be able to give them a proper estimate and establish what is needed for the baby. Some dogs come in and they have skin issues, matted hair and or shedding problems. From there I will give them an honest Reasonable price And treat their dogs like family.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
10 years of dog grooming experience in a high-volume dog salon where I am the number one groomer out of five retail stores.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
40 to 50 for small dogs 50 to 60 for medium dogs 60 to 70 for large dogs. That's just a kind of standard it really does depend on the dog the bread and the condition of the dog but I'm very fair and I'm very good and I do everything the dog needs
How did you get started in this business?
I was an Information software recruiter for many years then we had a recession and I was laid off. I've never been unemployed in my whole life so I decided to take some time and figure out what I wanted to do. I Enrolled in college and I wanted to be a vet tech but was not looking forward to putting my hands up a cow's butt. Then Petco called me 11 years ago and told me that they would train me to be a groomer and I thought holy cow that's perfect. I get to work with dogs which are my favorite animal ever and I don't have to give them shots or do surgery I just get to make them feel and look their best! I've been so happy ever since because this job really is me. Way more me than IT recruiting. That was just where I landed and stayed for 12 years to feed my family and take care of everyone. Now most of my family has moved on and I can do more of what I want to do and that is this.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All kinds young old fat skinny matted perfect coat not so perfect coat big small. You name it I have groomed it!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I'm fond of my brand new shower head in my brand new grooming room in my very own home even though there is a pandemic going on. I'm stoked about that totally stoked!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Trust your gut! If something feels wrong then it probably is wrong. Brush your dog or don't expect me to leave it fuzzy ha ha Ha. Hug your dog I just had one pass away that I love very very much their lives are short so give them treats baby make their life good because it's not very long and love them as big and hard as you can
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is currently going on with my dog that I want help with? Itching? Shedding? Matting?
