I have a flat rate of $45 per time. Other services are available at a quoted and agreed upon price prior to any work being done.

Get all pricing and a complete description of work to be done and have that in writing.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Budget for the work needed and make sure contractors have built in contingency fund for the size of project in case of unforeseen surprises that might come up during project.
