Storybook Interiors is an interior design company based out of West Michigan, serving clients as far as Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City.
Formerly operating under the name “Lindsay Hoekstra Custom Interiors, LLC”, owner and lead designer Lindsay Hoekstra has over 15 years combined experience in interior design and fine art. Through her experience, she has developed a keen eye for beauty, color, good design, and the skills to pull these elements together, creating spaces that amaze. Her business has since grown and evolved, now operating under the name Storybook Interiors, with a few new team members by her side.
It is important to us at Storybook Interiors to work closely with our clients, listening to their needs and desires to formulate a plan for their space. Instead of starting a project with a concrete 3D rendering with all pieces chosen, we begin with a layout and general concept or feel based on clients’ gathered inspiration photos, descriptions and specifications. This approach gives us better opportunities to find unique, reclaimed, antique and new pieces that may not be available during the concept stage. We call this process “Discovered Design”, discovering and acquiring the perfect pieces over time, while obtaining our clients approval of items along the way. The result is a beautiful, functional environment completely tailored to you!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would recommend taking a look at our images on our website, Houzz and Facebook to see what projects we have done in the past! Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have during your search, and have fun looking!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
We usually recomend that our clients save pictures from magazines or on Pinterest or Houzz that show spaces they like so we can get a feel for their taste. We also suggest having a rough target budget and timeline in mind so the project can be tailored to their parameters. From those bits of informations, we can put together a plan and quote that is specifically customized to their desires!
