When working with a new client, whether I meet them in the design center, through a referral or a request to work with me via a different website, I start with a phone call. This enables me to gather some information about the design needs. I also send an email of introduction. Within that email I attach a copy of the Design Project Questionnaire. The purpose of the Design Project Questionnaire is to guide me when putting together their design presentation.

I schedule a time with them to see and measure the space.  If this is a new build, I communicate to them that my design service also allows me to work with detailed drawings and get things started for them. Depending on the client, I even show them a couple of my projects from construction to finish so they can see for themselves that I am more than capable of completing the job as their designer. I ask for the design questionnaire form to be completed and returned to me when I visit their home or via email. While I’m in their home I measure, go over the questionnaire, answer any questions the client may have and schedule a time for them to come to the Ethan Allen Design center for the design presentation to see the design selection of furniture, fabrics and accessories. Usually my turn around time after visiting the home for the design presentation can vary from 3 days to a week. This depends on how many rooms there are to design and present.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design from Newbury College in Boston. I have been a designer for 11 years and have been working for Ethan Allen for 7 years.

There is no obligation to a specific dollar amount, but as an Ethan Allen designer, my design recommendations will be based accordingly. My design services are commission based, thus your timeframe, sense of urgency and spending plan, determine the time spent designing and needed for your project.

With this type of design service, it is important I am transparent and together we determine if Ethan Allen is the best fit for your project – ultimately, this allows us both to work smarter and maximize our time together.

I used to be a civil engineering major in college for two years, and space planning and functionally of a room was always something that I was good at. I was always changing the configuration to my dorm room or my friend’s apartment. That’s how I knew I was in the wrong field and decided to transfer from UMASS Dartmouth to Newbury college.

I have worked with all type of clients. Some with a big budget, some with a specific budget and also others that have a set plan but require more than one or two stages to finish the work. At the end of the day you “as my client” are in control on how you want to move forward with your project.

I got married a year ago and being a newlywed has been an adventure.
