Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We offer FREE estimates with a flexible schedule to meet your needs. Give us a call and we will set up a FREE, no obligation estimate on whatever project you have in mind.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in construction management and an MHIC for residential projects.
I have completed many hours of safety training specific to commercial/ industrial environments and continue to update my safety protocol and guidelines when necessary.
Extensive training in the application of specialty coatings and epoxies.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing will depend on what is being done. However, we always offer a FREE estimate and give you a comprehensive proposal detailing exactly what you are getting and how much it will cost. There are no hidden costs in our pricing and any changes will be done only with the customers knowledge and approval.
How did you get started in this business?
I was a professional paint mechanic for a very highly regarded painting company for over 15 years, at the end of which I was a top foreman responsible for supervising large scale projects with 15+ other painters/finishers working under me. After getting some advice on obtaining a business license, I started servicing my friend's car dealership, JBA Chevrolet. I began painting their wash bays and showroom and was able to grow my business from there. JBA Chevrolet still remains a customer to us 25 years later.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with a wide range of customers, both residential and commercial. Some of our past and current customers include:
McDonogh School
JBA Chevrolet
Pepsico (7 different locations throughout the DMV)
CSX
Coca Cola
Sysco
Metropolitan Meats
JPG Plumbing
We have also worked with homeowners just looking to spruce up their home, those who wish to do a total rehab, 203k home buyers, etc. We have done it all and take pride in providing a wide array of services.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Always check their references. Nothing can give you an idea of what to expect like a past customer.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Research standard pricing for specific trades in your area before seeking estimates to get an idea of what to expect.
If you are getting multiple estimates from different companies to compare, DO NOT disclose pricing from other estimates. Make them do the work and provide their own detailed estimate. Remember that ANYONE can beat a price, but that doesn't mean the quality you expect will be the end result.
If you aren't sure about what you want or certain details, ask your contractor or tradesman for advise! Their experience can offer ideas and options that you may not have considered otherwise.
Think about the purpose of your improvement. Is it to increase value? To ready the property to sell? To become more energy efficient? Or just to update or repair what is existing. Depending on your goal, we can offer options better geared toward reaching that goal, while giving you the best bang for your buck!
Remember to think about the little things.... and to leave some of your budget for those things as they come up. It can be as little as replacing the switch plates throughout your home after having the interior painted. Details like this can become apparent AFTER the job is finished and often times after you have consumed your budget. If you arent sure, ask your contractor/tradesman. You arent obligated to follow through with the recommendations, but knowing them ahead of time can help you to budget for them if you decide you want to.
