About
I am a balanced trainer who uses positive reinforcement first. I believe in using food and engagement to build a relationship with your dog. In the teaching phase, your dog will learn behaviors while working for their daily allotment of food.
Once a relationship is established and behaviors are taught, I can move on to the learning phase and introduce leash pressure to your dog. Pairing the leash with behaviors teaches the dog that the leash is now a means of communication. After your dog is fluent in leash pressure, we move to the next phase.
This phase is what I consider the training phase. At this stage, your dog knows the behaviors and understands when they are communicated through the leash. We can now begin to practice behaviors by adding distractions, duration, and distance.
The last phase is called proofing. Here, I make sure that all behaviors are consistently performed regardless of the environment and distractions.
I’m a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and trainer. I also teach dogs various forms of relaxation using Training Between The Ears methods.
