Baystate Mold Advisors
About
We are NORMI certified Mold Inspector, Assessor and Remediator and are excited to help homeowers and renters determine if they have an indoor air quality or mold problem. Then we can help the customer to improve their living enviroment.
We started of in this business in 2008 with my previous company, Baystate Basement Solutions, a waterproofing company.
After my business partner retired I closed down the waterproofing busines and focus on mold inspections and indoor air quality evaluations. I enjoy trying to figure out what happened and how to prevent it from happing in the future.
We love our work of investigating if there is a mold or indoor air quality problem, what caused it and what steps need to be taken to correct it.
This problem is as old as Leviticus of the Bible and continuse to change as man creates new indoor enviroments and peoples sensitivities continue to change. Staying current is so important.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We offer single floor to whole home mold inspections and air quality testing, starting with a visual inspection and thermal camera scan of the property. We take 1 air sample from each floor and and outside control sample to compare with. Additional samples can be purchased as need, such as from the HVAC or electrical outlets to get behind the wall samples. We photo-document all things of concern and create a photo presentation to go along with the writen report. We interpret the lab report for you and explain what it means and offer advice on what to do next.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am trained by NORMI, the National Orgaization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors, getting my certifications in Mold Inspection and Mold Remediation in 2008 and getting my Certification as a Mold Assessor, giving me the ability to legally say a matter is mold or not without testing, but still need testing to identify the type(s) of mold present. A Mold inspector who is not a certified assessor can only legally say "a mold like matter" in their report until the lab results are back.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We have pricing for most budgets. Air screening is the lowest cost and includes only 1 indoor sample and 1 out door sample, but no real inspection or report.
Next level is a 1 floor inspection with up to 2 indoor lab samples and 1 outdoor air sample, with full inspection as listed above.
3rd level inspection is a whole home inspection from attic to basement with up to 4 lab samples with one of them being the outdoor control sample.
Our soup to nuts inspection includes the whole home inspection with the addition of a TVOC/TMVOC lab sample to measure the amount of off gases in the property from building and life style products to the offgases created by hidden mold.
How did you get started in this business?
I formed a partnership with Safe N Dry, a waterproofing company in 2004 and we decided to get certified in mold remedaition because of all the moldy basements we were giving away to others. We wanted to be the best so we went to NORMI and the rest is history!
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with residential, commercial and business owners and renters.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure your mold pro can prove his certifications and his state business registration. If they are going to do remediation make sure they are also insured. Check out their repution / reviews on Google and BBB.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Where were you trained? What certifications do they have? Do you use a thermal camera during your inspections? Do you have a moisture meter? Do you scan for formaldehyde or offgases? Do you scan for dust during your indoor air qualtiy scanning? Will you show me your state business registration? Can you prove you are certified?
