BossDog Training
About
Hi! My name is Macey Fruge. I'm the owner and primary canine trainer of BossDog Training! Ive been training dogs just about my whole life but I've started out professionally about 4 years ago with working for nonprofit organizations and PetSmart as well as having my own clients here and there. BossDog Training was founded officially in March 2020.
Here at BossDog Training we teach obedience ,as well as certain working dogs (service dogs, therapy and esa) and help over come simple behavior problems such as jumping, pulling on the leash, over excited behaviors, etc.
If you have anymore questions regarding our training program please contact me at +13373901439.
Confused on if you really need training? Ask yourself, "who's the boss between you and your dog?"
We highly enjoy pet parents who passionately show the love and care of their pups. It's amazing being able to see a bond form right in front of our eyes between a person and a dog. It's probably one of my favorite things in life to watch happen.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start of with trying to write down goals and rules that a person wants to achieve with their dog and their relationship with their dog.
Then we start to build a foundation to the type of behavior we want. Through training you can build the perfect dog! And it's our job to help bring that perfect behavior out for our clients.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A lot of my training is mainly hands on. I started out getting experience with a non-profit organization training service dogs for veterans and from there I took on every opportunity that came my way for me to get experience.
I've also taken online courses for different training types and philosophies that I wanted to study to really broaden my knowledge in this industry and I still to this day so this. There are so many different styles and ideas of training that you can never stop learning.

How did you get started in this business?
I got started really young. I always enjoyed teaching cute tricks to my dogs and I was very "ocd" about my dogs behavior. I wasn't one to have my dog not listen to me in a crowd of people.
one day I got this puppy at 16/17 years old. She was just supposed to be a project puppy on retrieving for me. Kind of like a summer thing to do. That dog turned out to be the best soul to ever walk in my life. She took it over. My life was never the same again after her paw prints touched my heart. And together? We were unstoppable. I mean this dog got me noticed with other trainers that never would've thought to give a 17 year old a chance to work for them.
she made me realize I had a gift. She's the reason I even considered dog training as a career. In 2018 she passed away tragically and it broke me.. I thought I was never going to train again. Shoot I thought I was never going to be the same person again. But just like every wound I healed. And I couldn't let what me and her started go to waste. So I built my love for training and my courage back up and started BossDog Training. And she's the logo for the business.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with just about every client you could get in the dog world.
the over protective partner, the guy who couldn't care less about the dog but the wife wants training, the one who was at its last hope before getting rid of the dog, the one who "loves the dog to death but can't stand this or that".
just about anything you can think of I've helped these people out. Even people with disabilities that training might of seemed out of reach. But we've achieved it.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
My advice is don't over think a trainer. There are more ways to train a dog then one. And each dog is different.
Postive reinforcement is a super popular way to train now days but it's not the only "right" way. So don't be blinded by what is popular.
What do you think your dog would benefit from? Why do you think that? Do research on everything!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Questions for yourself
-What problems are you having?
-why are you seeking training?
-what are your goals with your dog?
Questions for the trainer
-what's the training process?
-how do you handle certain situations and why with dogs? (Bad behaviors, etc)
-what is the environment like that you will be training in?
