Dykman Acinger Design
About
I specialize in personalized service and design collaboration to reflect my client's desires and personality, while building relationship, trust and making the whole process enjoyable. I entered the design profession through textiles, and excel in bringing all elements, especially fabrics, together to make beautiful and functional interiors. Throughout the years, I have forged relationships with trusted and quality craftspeople and industry partners, who bring value to each of my clients. By looking at my portfolio on my website, my Dykman Acinger Design Facebook page, and my Houzz profile, prospective clients can see that there is no "Dykman Acinger Look" but that my design is customized to my clients desires. Also, one can view feedback from my past clients on Houzz and see that I have won the 2017 Customer Service Award.
As an interior designer for over 20 years, I've learned and grown personally and professionally, and still find the work enjoyable and exciting. To be surrounded by color, texture, and a continuous stream of new trends and products energizes me, and compels me to continue evolving and sharing my expertise in fresh ways, to benefit my clients. I most enjoy building relationships with my clients, the continual creative nature of my job, and that through the design process and working to make my clients' design dreams come true, I am able to bring joy, happiness and satisfaction.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically after an initial phone conversation, I schedule an in home consultation,to become acquainted with my client, their space, personal style, desires and needs, etc. I then return to my studio and start the design process of gathering ideas, thinking through various scenarios, and selecting specific ingredients for the space, which are then presented to the client for feedback and collaboartion. Once my clients are happy with the design direction and specifics, I help make these plans come to fruition in whatever ways my clients need.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I do hold a bachelors degree in education, design courses and seminars over the years, and 19 years of design experience. I came into the interior design field specializing in textiles, custom drapery and bedding. As interiors are so interelated, I soon began designing whole rooms to coordinate colors, furniture and accessories. Prior to the economic down turn of 2008, I designed and implemented the interior furnishings of numerous model homes. Since 2009, my business experitise has grown to include home remodel and all aspects of home interiors.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Initial in-home consultation fees are $150, with design hours thereafter charged at $120 per hour. I am generous with my time, not charging for every single minute that I spend on the project with my clients often remarking that they felt they were charged fairly and received a good return on their investment. My goal to is provides excellent design services and products for my clients at a compentitive price while being fair to myself.

Describe a recent project you are fond of.
Currently I'm working on a project in the Lakewood subdivison of Lee's Summit. I'm fond of this project as my clients have been wonderful to colaborate with on new paint colors throughout, stunning grass cloth in their dining room with new lighting fixtures, custom draperies, area rugs, lower level wood look tile handsome tailored carpet, plantation shutters to enlarge the look of standard basement windows and remodeled master bathroom featuring a mixture of porcelain tile and stunning marble.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I think it's important that an inteiror designer's porfolio shows the ability to work with a wide variety of styles and does not have one set "look". A good designer should also be a good listener, educator, and respectful, as working on a client's home is very personal.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Clients should think through their decor desires, priorities, favorite colors, patterns etc., as well a target budget, time frame and expectations.
