What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Gather information about the owner and their availability. Getting a history if there's a behavior problem is always necessary. Also need to know the dog's age, breed and if they are spayed or neutered.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in psychology. I have worked with dogs for over 20 years in different capacities.
How did you get started in this business?
I got started working for a veterinarian. Then I started doing other things with dogs on my own.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Many different types of owners have been helped. But most of them are families with children.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do research on the type of training you are interested in. Interview the trainer.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Do you use aversive methods? Do you use positive reinforcement methods? Do you teach the people? Do you help all family members?
