Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First time clients would need to provide current vacination record showing Rabies/DHLPP(distemper & parvo)/Bordetella(kennel cough). In the state of Georgia it is required that a Licensed Vetrinary or vaccine clinic administrate the Rabies. We try to go by appointments, we take appointments from 6am-12pm Monday-Saturday. Our operating hours are Monday-Saturday 6am-6pm
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the grooming and boarding business for 34 years now, and before that worked as a animal technician at an animal clinic as well as a surgical technician for 21 years. Always looking into the lastest trends in grooming as well as the boarding field.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
For grooming our pricing pretty much goes by size and what we're doing weather it's a full groom or a mini groom.
Boarding prices are $25. per night small pets(under 25 pounds)
$30. per night medium pets(25-40 pounds)
$35. per nigh Large pets(over 40 pounds)
With the owner supplying the food so we don't upset their pets system while boarding.
We don't take in biters due to the fact we DO NOT have indoor outdoor runs.. we personal walk each and every dog that comes in to board with us.
How did you get started in this business?
I worked as a bather 35 years ago and would straighten out all the mistakes and corrections that the groomer I was working for after she left.. so I was taught by a Master show groomer in exchange for running her petshop in the afternoons for 4 plus years. Been doing it every since.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All kinds. we are an all around grooming shop. if we don't know how to do something we're not afraid to look things up to make sure we're dong the right clip on the right dog or cat.. We've groomed dogs/cats/rabbits/farrets/wing clippings on birds/nails on reptiles.. you name it in the last 35 years I've just about done it.. if not I can tell you where to go to get it done.. Been in the Stone Mountain area for the past 30 years, so know the area and the clinics as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I work alot with rescues and my most recent event was reuniting a lost dog with his owner after being gone for 11 days.. Thank god for micro-chips but please remember if you don't register the chip it's no good to get the chip number.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure you check them out and if yours not comfortable in the facility then your pet won't be. Are they friendly do the have good reviews, how do they address your pet?? afterall your pet is not just your pet it's part of your family..
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What do your and your pet need?? Can the pro help you or should they send you to someone that can?? Are they insured god forbid of accidents ?? Do they ask for all vaccines or just the basics to get your business?? I for one if your not requesting all of them I'm taken my pet somewhere else that is a little bit more health conscience with my fur-baby.
