What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Homeowners - initial in-home meeting to evaluate existing conditions and needs. Review Occupational Therapist reports and recommendations (if available). Develop a design solution. Obtain multiple bids from qualified Remodelers (if desired). Oversee remodel project.
Builder/Remodelers - discuss what existing systems are in use and what needs can be met.

How did you get started in this business?
Adventure in Building became incorporated in 1990. Remodeling projects were main focus and over the years we have evolved to consulting work only.

Describe a recent project you are fond of.
A favorite project was a kitchen remodel for a family that wanted to cook together. An accessible kitchen was designed with a sink and a cooktop on a lift (lower position was for a wheelchair user and raised position was for standing user). The design won two professional awards.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Check credentials (licensing and insurance). Speak with the professional directly and see if there is good communication. Check references by asking directed questions.
