I help professionals make decisions on how to best spend their money to improve their living conditions. I help make their interiors and exteriors more functional and attractive through remodeling and additions or designed them a new home altogether.
I also help small business owners and professionals invest their money in commercial real estate by analyzing the potential property's zoning to help them see the increased potential of their investment in the property by adding to or remodeling the building, or even possibly changing its use.
In addition, I help affordable housing developers prepare site plans and renderings for government proposals and once they obtain funding, I prepare the final drawings and necessary construction documents for them.
United Architects, Inc., was founded in 1986. The principal of the firm, Maria Luisa Castellanos, R.A., holds a Master of Architecture from Georgia Tech and is licenced as an architect and a Realtor in the state of Florida.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We develop a scope of work together. Then, I get fixed prices from my engineers and send a proposal to the client. Once he/she approves the proposal, we have several meetings during 5 phases of the work: Preliminary, design development, 50% construction documents, 100% construction documents, and construction observation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Science in architecture and Master of Architecture from Georgia Tech. I am a LEED AP.
I am also a state certified general contractor in the state of Florida, but this license is inactive. I do not do construction as a business but I undertand construction very well. The firm was founded in 1986.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I don't have standard pricing. Each project is special and the price determined on the scope of work.
How did you get started in this business?
I worked for several architecture firms and then started a construction business with a partner.

What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with private commercial clients, institutional clients like Miami-Dade County and Miami-Dade County Public Schools, as well as many private residential clients.

Miami-Dade County asked if they could use my drawings for a for the "Expandable House" as an exhibit for an event they were having for the Department of Public Housing and Community Development.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Hire someone who has extensive experience.
