Naples Top Dogs
About
Naples Top Dogs are the premier in-home trainers for Naples, Fl. We are members of the APDT, IAABC, and PSI. With so many dog training methods out there, you will naturally find it daunting to identify and settle for the right one. You are in fact not alone. Indeed, many dog owners have in the past confronted similar issues. As a matter of fact, the professional dog training community has yet to strike a consensus as regards which of the available methods are ethical and universally acceptable.
The fact that several methods overlap or serve more or less similar purposes further aggravates the situation. Listed and explained below are seven of the most trusted dog training methods which might be of benefit to you:
I have grown up with dogs and while attending college, I purchased a pit bull and needed a dog trainer. I studied under one of the most respected trainers in AKC and continued to train dogs. I graduated from USF and trained obedience and also competed in conformation. I titled dogs in UKC and AKC and moved back to Naples in 2014 and continued my training expertise locally. I do puppy training, pet training, companion training, psa, dad and obedience and good manners, and much more.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always like to conduct an initial consultation on the phone to make sure it is a good fit. The next step is to do an in-home consultation so I can see the pup in their environment. We can speak about a training plan from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 22 years in dog training, I have studied under Dr. Ian Dunbar, I have certificates from APDT, Several through Dr. Ian Dunbar's training academy, I am a member of APDT, IAABC, AKC CGC and Puppy STAR Evaluator and PSI.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I offer an hourly rate and also group rate discounts. I offer many services ranging from puppy training, good manners, obedience, companion dogs to service dogs. There are different prices for each service. I offer a discount more package deals that lower the hourly rate.
How did you get started in this business?
I needed a dog trainer when I purchased a puppy in college and became a dog trainer after mentoring under her. I have been an avid equestrian since age 6 and grew up with a German shepherd and also Amstaffs. I have been training dogs for over 20 years.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all breeds and all sizes. I have trained over 1200 dogs, AKC, UKC, Stock and mixed breeds. I have also worked with many "designer" breeds and doodles. I love all dogs and have had success with all breeds using positive reinforcement.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently was asked to conduct a demo of my training at the German Shepard Rescue of South West Florida, the first of its kind. There was over 80 GSD's present and I did a demo of an 8-year-old GSD that went extremely well. Many fosters were adopted that day. It was a successful event!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Always look at the credentials. Anyone in this field can claim to be a professional dog trainer or behavioralist. Please do your research, meet with the trainer to see if there is a connection and ONLY choose a positive reinforcement trainer. It is HUGE that you get your puppy started off early, by 8 weeks, 2/3 of the socialization period has already been imprinted. Just because you had a happy, confident puppy at that age, DOES NOT mean that your pup will have the same behaviors at 7 months.
