Teaching has been my life's work; with a Bachelor's degree in music education and a Master's degree in music performance, I was a music performer and educator for many years. I've been training dogs since 2004.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I interview the client to gather information about the dog and the issue, and then formulate a plan to help the client and their dog meet theior goals. I teach the dog and the client the skills needed to address the issue, and then assess progress, adjusting the plan as needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in teaching from the University of Miami. I passed and continue to maintain the Certified Professional Dog Training title with continuing education by attending seminars, webinars, reading the latest in research, and consulting with colleagues. I am a life-long learner!
How did you get started in this business?
Teaching is not only what I do, it is who I am. After teaching humans :-) for many years, I decided to combine my love of teaching and my love of dogs, and became a dog trainer. I became fascinated with how they learn and sought to gain more education about that, the different breeds and learning styles.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We recently held a Performance Scent Dogs trial. It's an amateur version of the professional scent detection that is used in many applications. For more info on that, see https://www.paws4fun.training/scent-detection.html
Trials are great fun! The dogs love it and the handlers love it; it is a great outlet for a dog's energy, and meets their natural desire to sniff!
