Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Your initial consultation is the first step towards reaching your training goals! During this time, we'll talk about what those goals are, potential challenges to reaching those goals, and what we should prioritize for you and your family.
I'll have a chance to meet your dog and get you started with some activities to give you immediate relief from your most pressing concerns.
From there, we'll set up your training sessions and start working towards a better behaved dog.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified dog trainer through Animal Behavior College and a certified exotic animal training through Animal Behavior Institute. I am also Fear Free certified and Low Stress Handling certified.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I offer both pay-as-you-go and package options, depending on what kind of training needs each person has. For puppy training and basic obedience, packages are best, while for single behavior change requests or long term training where we may be spacing out each session, pay-as-you-go is best.
How did you get started in this business?
I've worked with animals for most of my life but found my true passion (training and behavior) when I took a dog training course to improve my dog grooming business. From there I made a career change and have been totally immersed in behavior and training ever since!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I worked with so many different types of customers, from dog and horse owners to rescues and exotic animal facilities.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
One of the first questions people ask me is "how much?" and while this may be relevant depending on your financial situation, there are much more important questions that should be the determining factors in your decision to hire a trainer. Unfortunately training is an unregulated business and anyone can claim to be a professional trainer.
