Maggie helped me pick out drapes & a color scheme for my dining room. Very helpful with offering ideas and listening to my ideas as well. She has also given me some helpful suggestions for how to make my furniture pieces stand out

Q & A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Meeting a client in the space to be worked on is the first step. It is helpful to see photos that they like or don't like. Clients want different levels of interaction with a designer so that must be decided. Some clients I just come in and perform our 90 minute Design ReFreshment service and leave them with a written action plan addressing their design goals and they are good to go! Some clients ask that we make all their design decisions. There is a wide range- no right or wrong way, just individualized.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

B.S. Marketing- University of Alabama

A.A.S. Interior Design, Magna Cum Laude, Fashion Institute of Technology

Antique Appraisal Certificate, New York University

Allied Member, American Society of Interior Designers

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

Design ReFreshment- $290 including tax. This is an intense, 90 minute walk-thru/mtg. We answer your ques. incl. overall layout, window treatment, paint, fabric and flooring ideas and leave you with a written action plan that you can implement solo or ask us for further help.

Design services @ $150/hour.

How did you get started in this business?

Have always been interested in designing, color, draping and psychology  so interior design is a good fit. Went back to school for an interior design degree and antique apprisal certificate after moving to New York.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Describe a recent project you are fond of.

We just renovated a large two sitting area family room and were able to reuse the coffee table, bookshelves and fireplace mantle by creatively painting them to go with the new silver/grey/cream color scheme. We also reupholstered two Louis xv arm chairs. If something has good bones it can usually be reused. Add that to the new off white shag area rugs, modern Italian sofa and light grey satin window panels and it was a fantastic result.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Find someone with whom you have chemistry. It helps. And liking some of the designers other projects is a good sign.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

How soon do I have to have this done? How, specifically, should the space function (seating, eating, no. of persons using the space, etc)? , What is my budget? I also like to know if there is anything they really can't stand- some people don't like wallpaper or pleated shades for example.
