What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We add the new customer to our system and come out to meet them to perform the task they hired us for or to give an estimate.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took 4 years of schooling in electrical theory and construction. I have a Master Electrician license. I completed the classes requisite for an entreprenuership certificate at the local community college.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We have prices for different tasks, but our prices center around the hourly rate of $150/hr for smaller jobs as well as the cost of material. We do offer discounts for larger projects and we have a 10% discount for seniors, vets and active military.
How did you get started in this business?
I was working in the oil fields as an electrician and was laid off with about 90% of the workforce in my company. I took my savings and went back to school to better understand business. The savings went quicker than I anticipated and before I knew it I had about $10 left so I bought 500 cheap business cards and started passing those out and people really loved my work and story.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with all types of customers from homeowners to commercial and industrial businesses. We work closely with several real estate agents and property management companies. We also work with Facility Maintenance companies.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I really enjoyed working on a cabin for two of my first customers in this business. This is an ongoing project and I find this job particularly rewarding. These customers have become very good friends over the last couple years.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would make sure the company is licensed to work in the state and they have insurance at the minimum. Reviews also tell alot about a company.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
A customer should have a scope of work, a budget and a timeline in mind.
