Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
To get a better insight of the current situation, I start with an evaluation during an initial consultation. This consists of a behavior profile and companionship analysis.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have more than 20 years of experience as Veterinary Technician and Dog Trainer. I constantly deepen my knowledge of dog psychology and behavior and various training methods through research and educational programs. I am a professional member of APDT (Association of Professional Dog Trainers) and IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, I do have standard pricing. Please contact me through my website: www.balancedcompanions.com or by email: [email protected] for more information.
How did you get started in this business?
I grew up filled with the love for farm and pet animals. After several unfulfilling professions I started to miss furry friends from childhood in my early thirties. I started to work as a Veterinary Assistant and later as a Veterinary Technician and got to handle dozens of breeds of dogs with their different characters and personalities, which brought me early on to my passion of training dogs and building better companionships between the dog parents and their furry kids.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all different breeds and rescues. Dogs come in the same variety of personalities as people. Experience in analyzing - and the understanding of dog behaviors and their motivations are the keys to training.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
It is a continuous event, that my students are always thrilled to see me!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Dog Owners and Dog Trainers are working closely together. It is not only important that the Trainer has a full understanding and expertise in animal training, it is also neccessary, that there is a good line of communication between Owner and Trainer. Make sure your Trainer is not only qualified but you are able to have a good working relationship with your Trainer. It requires dog and people skills to be a good Dog Trainer.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Ask for a consultation. A first initial meeting for an analysis is the best way to figure out compatibility and problem assessment. This Service should be offered for a resonable price and without any commitments for further lessons.
