Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
An initial consultation is invaluable to learn more about design options and understand the process. It's equally important to like each other and develop a good rapport.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a long association the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Additionally I have a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and was a senior designer for Homestead House for several years before establishing my own business.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I work with two different pricing structures depending on client's needs. Either hourly or on retainer. I pass along significant discounts to clients and resource products through wholesale accounts, so it's a win-win.
How did you get started in this business?
i started out in fine art and antique consulting, working for a gallery in Montreal.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked all over--Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, Lake Tahoe, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Woodland Hills, West Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Malibu, Agoura, Thousand Oaks, Westlake,Camarillo, Newbury Park, Oxnard, etc. I enjoy working with many different types of customers of all budgets and styles.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I just completed a beachfront property in Oxnard. It was a lovely repeat client who needed immediate help due to smoke damage. I project managed a fireplace redo and updated the whole look against an ocean backdrop. We all remained safe with Covid protocols and virtual design and added a few extras accessories!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
My advice would be to hire an interior designer BEFORE you hire a contractor. It's also helpful to consider what you don't like as well as what you do like and if you're not sure, that's ok too. I will save you money on common mistakes and give you a far better design than a standard builder approach.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Absolutely the budget range and ideal timeline.
