Paula is skilled, patient and so knowledgeable...a true dog whisperer. My dog, Drogo absolutely adores her. She has the ability to bring out the best in him, give him the confidence to succeed, and show me how to apply what I learn from her. Drogo has transformed from a toothy beast with little impulse control and no coping mechanisms into a loving companion. Thank you Paula; I’m so glad I found you!

Working with Paula has been amazing. She has not only shown and help me with the tools I need for my little ones Schroeder and Marcy to have a more happy and confident life, she has also help me to understand how to properly be there for my dogs and know what they really need.

    Frequently asked questions

After an initial phone conversation, we set up an In-home Consultation which lasts about 90 minutes. We discuss the challenges the owner is facing, their goals and priorities, and a plan is created with those in mind.

Have studied animal behavior for over 20 years, both in the field and academically. Was chosen to develop and manage the canine program under the Director of Animal Behavioral Services at Escondido Humane Society. Our program eliminated euthanasia of adoptable dogs, achieving the San Diego Animal Welfare Coalition's (SDAWC) initiative of Getting to Zero (G20). Went on to successfully run play groups of multiple breeds and sizes. Specialized in dog to dog intros and matching beneficial play styles. Have taught private lessons, classes, and workshops. A Professional member of APDT and Supporting Member of IAABC. AKC CGC and S.T.A.R. Puppy Evaluator.

Yes, there is an hourly rate. Additionally, I do offer two packages. "Inspire... The Future" is available for puppies 10 weeks of age and under. I also offer a package; "Inspire... Hope" for families looking to adopt a new companion dog from a shelter or rescue.

It was a natural progression. I feel very privileged; I love what I do.

Have had the honor of working with all types of guardians and families, including people from all over the world.

I would have to say the three shelter boys I've pulled over the last five years which I proudly call my crew. An American Pit Bull Terrier mix, an Akita mix, and a Bulldog mix. All adults, all from varying backgrounds (including Pala and Rincon Reservations), and all three with distinctly different personalities. By creating an atmosphere based on empathy, trust, and mutual respect, they play, sleep, and invest in each other. They remind me every day of how much is possible.

Ask about the trainer's methodology. Does it match how you would like your companion to be treated and taught? Discuss what type of experience they have. Not necessarily how long, but how diverse. Ask for several references that are relevant to the issues you are experiencing.

Prioritize their goals. What they need to bring peace back into their lives.
