About this pro

Feng Shui Style is a boutique design firm located in downtown San Jose, the heart of Silicon Valley. We also have an office in Boston, MA, so we're bi-coastal.

We improve the homes and fortunes of our clients with ancient design methods and contemporary style. We are available for both onsite and remote Feng Shui consultations, as well as interior and exterior design for your home, office or business.

Originating in China almost 6,000 years ago, Feng Shui literally means "wind" (Feng) and "water" (Shui). It is an ancient method of constructing and optimizing residences and businesses to bring about happiness, abundance and harmony. It includes architecture, urban planning, interior design, and garden design.

We specialize in:

· Large-scale Feng Shui and Design projects, such as hotels, restaurants, and commercial projects

· Residential Interior Design

· Renovating dated kitchens and baths in a "green" way ~ re-purposing your existing items

· Choosing appropriate paint colors that look and feel great

· Using Feng Shui secrets to stage your home for sale

· Selecting appropriate colors for your historic home, based on 20 years experience with color theory & historic preservation

· Finding the best site for residential and commercial projects

· Helping house hunters find the best home for them, Feng Shui-wise

I love helping clients achieve their dreams through the vehicle of design. I'm especially passionate about green renovation and historic preservation. I've been pretty obsessed with architecture in general since I was about 8 years old. I used to draw cut-away views of apartment buildings when most kids were drawing stick figures.

All my experience and passions ultimately combined in the practice of Feng Shui, which involves architecture, urban planning, interior design, and garden design.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Our typical Interior Design project works like so:

· Feng Shui Consultation

· Interior Design brainstorming

· Color scheme & overall theme for the rooms

· Client review of the scheme & design direction

· Architectural drawings, renderings, as necessary

· Pulling permits as necessary

· "Breaking ground" (literally or figuratively) - Trades people come in as necessary for plumbing, lighting, construction, painting, etc.

· Furniture and accessory selection, agreement & purchase

· Purchased Items arrive at client's home

Designers go to client's home and assemble everything for the final "reveal"

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am an HGTV-featured Feng Shui Master and Interior Designer with hundreds of clients all over the world. I have designed homes, offices, businesses, movie studios, pilates studios, bed and breakfasts, and yachts on the West Coast, East Coast, The South, The middle U.S., Italy, England, Hong Kong and Singapore.

I love helping clients with green renovation and historic preservation. As for my "classical" education, I studied Humanities at Harvard University, with a major in French and History, which eventually led me to architecture and Historic Preservation.

I also studied Design and Photography at the Massachusetts College of Art, Non-linear video editing at Boston Film & Video, Oil Painting and Italian in Florence, Italy, and International Business at Boston University.

All my experience and passions ultimately combined in the practice of Feng Shui, which involves architecture, urban planning, interior design, and garden design.
