About
Each project has to be taylored to meet the expectations, needs, design and budget of the individuals. This is a process that gets developed through a partnership with myself and my associates and the homeowner.
I like design and being challenged to produce a unique style suited to the individual's taste and style.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
An initial meeting to listen to what the customer wants, their timeline and budget.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Started young as a union carpenter apprentice building suburban housing tracts. Within a decade had my own contracting business as a licensed contractor remodeling homes mostly in San Francisco along with house additions.
About 25 years ago started a design business with my wife which flourishes to this day.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Each project is unique so there is no set fee. Generally, I give a price range with a not to exceed figure.
How did you get started in this business?
When I was contracting, we were a design/build firm and I found I was more excited to be on the design end of things.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Mostly residential home improvement projects with an occassional commercial job. I prefer working with an individual on their home.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
I was contracted to design and draw a new Sausalito house boat which was a two-story duplex. I was also asked to build it which I did. I thought I probably wouldn't get another chance to build a new house, plus it floats!

Be sure there is genuine chemistry, communication and trust.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Is the picture they have in their mind realistic in regards to their timeframe, budget and needs.
