What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start with a phone interview so we can both learn a bit more about each other and the project. Then I come to the home to spend time getting to know my potential clients. Its really them picking me and me picking them as this relationship is critical to a smooth and enjoyable experience. If we click, then we make a plan together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
An AA In Interior Design from Bellevue College. This is an "accredited" program so its top notch and is both the art and science of Interiors.
Kitchen and Bath design courses. Masters in Social Work whick is so valuable in this work. I am a coach, advacate and provider of an experience that transforms environments for increased happpiness & health. This impacts relationshps with self and loved ones!
Ongoing education with National Kitchen & Bath Assicoation and American Society for Interior Designers. Aging in Place, and Green Building.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I usually do projects with budgets of $60,000 to $775,000. For these I usually charge hourly and I take a deposit upfront.
I also do design coaching for the DIY folks. For $250 I come spend an hour with you and give you all the ideas I can for your interests. I enjoy helping everyone get professional support in home redesign.
How did you get started in this business?
I had a first career in Non-Profits and worked extensively in the Treatment Foster Care system at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. I designed and built a county wide program for young adults leaving foster care with housing, education, support and more.
Then 12 years ago I decided to take up my love of art and color and building and turn my talents for helping people to reach their potential for happiness into the very hands on career of Interior Design.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I love working with people who are invloved in and excited about their families and communities. Single folks, partners, families....its all good for me.
People who love to travel like I do are especially fun - incorporating art, pics and more from advuntures is a wonderful way to celebrate life in our homes.
Im also a big proponent of makeing decisions that help our planet and our health. Im a vol with the Green Bulding Council.
