Star Grooming On Fifth
About
I started my grooming career after a 25 year career as an operating room nurse. I bring that integrity and care for safety into my grooming practice.
I continue to attend conferences and workshops to stay fresh on the latest trends.
My shop is basically a crate free environment for the dogs before and after their groom. However I am always vigilant to observe behavior and never allow escalation of unwanted behaviors.
I love grooming and the opportunity to provide such a wonderful service to our loved family members and their pet parents.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I am contacted by a new client, I have a list of questions that I ask to help me determine the service needed and the best program to recommend based on the type of dog, activity level, and finances available.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I apprenticed in a local shop for 6 months and then went to a school of grooming in Corona, Ca. Since that initial training I have worked with a certified groomer and attend our convention every year in February. I continue to take local seminars and training sessions whenever I can.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is based on the type of dog, size, and past or recent grooming experience.
I basically offer two services which require an appointment and every dog gets a full prep, including: nails trimmed, pads and potty areas trimmed, ears cleans and for small dogs, anal checked.
We give many specialty baths, flea, oatmeal, medicated at no additional charge.
How did you get started in this business?
I have always had dogs and had a paddle that I would take to be groomed and just thought that would love to do that as a second career.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My customer s come in every stripe of dog owner from new adoptees to veteran dog trainers and every one in between.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Although one of the hardest circumstance for every groomer is the matted dog, I recently had a dog come in that was so matted that he couldn’t really see or move around very well. I was able to shave him down and got him clean and restored to his natural healthy coat. I saw him a few days later running in the park with his owner.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
You should feel comfortable with the groomer and I would ask about safety and cleanliness. Many groomers work behind closed doors, my shop is open and my grooming space is open to the public.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
To be realistic concerning thief’s dogs coat and activity level.
