About

I've been training dogs on and off since about 2007. I started with a nonprofit and moved to shelter dogs, doing temperament tests and getting the dogs ready for adoption. I started doing private in home training sessions shortly after that. In my opinion, dogs are most comfortable in their own environment with their people, plus this helps me watch and learn more about the dog, its behaviors and quirks. I offer an 8 week class that focuses on basic obedience, behavior reconstruction and strengthening the bond with you and your dog. At the end of the 8 weeks, there is a test and graduation where each dog gets a diploma and a bandana. My class is more focused on fun then being super strict but in the end, what you put in you will get back 10 fold.

Honestly, seeing the change in my clients and their dogs is the most rewarding part of being a trainer.

    Frequently asked questions

Typically there is a conversation about what the client is looking for and what issues they may be having. After that, there is a meeting (consultation) where we go over the contract, what each week will consist of, homework and payment as well as planning for which day/time works best for everyone involved.

Other than owning dogs of my own as well as working with dogs at shelters and rescues/nonprofits, I have various certifications that have helped me in my journey to be a dog trainer. These include: Pet First Aid & CPR, Animal Physical Therapy, Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation & Veterinary Support Assistant.

I charge per dog per household. The maximum number of dogs I will train at one time is 4 (3 hour class). If a client has more than 4 dogs who are all in need of training, it will have to be worked out and discussed.

    1 dog: $200 / 2 dogs: $325 / 3 dogs: $450 / 4 dogs: $575

I started volunteering with shelters and non profits.

I have worked with a variety of different clients and dog breeds with a wide array of behavioural issues.

Breeds I have worked with: Anatolian Shepherd, Chihuahua, Husky, Great Dane, Pit Bull, Labrador, Bull Terrier, Boxer, American Pit Bull Terrier, Corgi, German Shepherd, Akita, Doberman, Poodle, as well as Rescues and mixed breeds.

All of my current clients have been an absolute dream to work with. One dog in particular was not a fan of me when we first started. She would bark and snarl and show me her teeth. At one of our last sessions, she let me pet her. This is huge for both of us! However this didnt just happen, it took weeks of me coming back (for training) and lots of treats to get her to trust me.

Know exactly what you're looking to get out of having someone help you train your dog. For me, its one thing to want your pup to be trained, but what does that mean to you exactly? Are you looking for just the basic Sit, Stay & Down or would you rather have a well behaved dog you can take places? These are things to think about prior to hiring a trainer.

Think about the kind if lifestyle you have with your dog currently and then think about the lifestyle you'd rather have with your dog.
