Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We usually talk on the phone first and I will gather all the information and criteria. If they are buyers, then I will set them up to view homes online and on an app. I also connect them to a lender if they don't already have one. Then we go view homes together and put an offer in on a home they like and open escrow. I assist in negotiating the best deal for my buyers. I hold their hands through the escrow process and answer any questions they might have about disclosure and documents. When we close escrow, I hand over the keys.
If you are a seller. I normally meet them at their home with my buyer's agent and we go over their timeline to sell and also an option of staging. Then we discuss the marketing and tour the home. I will get the home on the market and discuss the marketing strategy with my marketing director and provide seller's netsheet from the escrow company. Once the home hits the market, I will arrange showings and open houses and discuss offers and counter offers and negotiate the best offer possible. Guide the sellers through the escrow process and see them off to their new stage of their lives.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University in Marketing and California Real Estate license and ceritfication in Distressed Properties. I also have 2 years of escrow experience with Centre City Escrow and C21 Escrow. I have managed and leased commercial office buildings and shopping centers with Windsor Leasing and Management in Encino, CA.
How did you get started in this business?
I received my licensed back in 1991 and I was living in Los Angeles. I wanted to move into my rental property in San Diego (Carmel Valley) and leave the fashion industry in Los Angeles. I worked at the national real estate company in Del Mar, then returned to the Carmel Valley office. About 5 years ago, I moved to Coastal Premier Properties to work with two amazing owners and broker.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with all types of customers. Since most of my business is from a referral from past client or my sphere, I really can not discriminate on who I can and can not work with. I even work closely with VA buyers and sellers. If I had to say there's two type of clients I might refer out to others might be land/lots and manufactured homes. Only because I do not have as much experience in those type of transactions. I love first time buyers because I love being a teacher and educating them on the whole real estate process and also with relocation clients, I get to play the tour guide and show them all the amazing areas of San Diego.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have recently closed a transaction with a single mom who saved every penny to buy a home for her little baby girl. When I handed over the keys, she bursted into tears, because of all of her hard work to give her baby a home. I feel I have done my job as her realtor and as a her new friend.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would tell them to find an agent who knows the area and who works full time selling homes. Make sure they are not alone, and that they have a team or a support system. Also, that you are working with the agent, not their assistant to find or sell a home. You should find an agent with likeability. Someone you feel you can trust and most of all, have fun with. Who said buying or selling a home has to be all serious business. Life is short, be happy buying or selling your home.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How long have you been in the business?
How long have you lived in the area?
Would I be working with you or your assistant?
Can you explain the buying or selling process?
Do you have any reviews from clients I can read?
Why should I hire you?
