Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A first e-mail and then exchange cell phone numbers, find out your needs and scope of work via the first call, then prepare for a site visit as needed.
Once the customer decides to proceed, we take complete measurements of the as-built space or existing lot, then draw permit documents.
If you decide to hire us to also build the project, the general contractor will prepare an estimate. The client can save money hiring Sand and Stone Design to build their project, with a discount on your design fees applied if we are hired to do the construction work.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BA in Studio Art, worked and trained 5 years with Bernard ("Bud") Schwartz, AIA, Seattle WA, 18 years experience with my own firm in Los Angeles and Coachella Valley as architectural designer and building contractor.
