Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our typical process starts with an initial phone call to get a feel of the scope of the project, we follow up with a Free consultation to identify Design Needs and answer any questions the client may have, we then proceed to a site analysis and evaluation, and finally we go over inspirational ideas and images the client may have, and we provide a road map on how to achieve their vision quickly and affordably
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After spending two years in Santa Monica College specializing and Drafting and Design, our Principal Designer then went on to study for three more years at UCLA where she acquired a Bachelor's in Fine Arts and Interior Design. She then went on to work for various interior design firms in Southern California for about five years that led her to acquire a great scope of experience. From your home remodel to full on celebrity luxury home, all the way up to Saudi Arabian Palaces in which she still works today.

All clients are different and all projects are different, so we don't try to push clients into a box where they don't feel they have the full freedom to express their concerns and needs thus we feel the need to provide our clients with a custom experience, however we like to set up our projects into three phases, from consultation to installation we keep open channels of communication so that every cost is addressed. We like to pride ourselves in two basic principles: No Budget is impossible and Excellence is always achievable
How did you get started in this business?
After college Juana Najera wanted to learn as much as possible from the trade. Designing and creating great spaces have always been her passion so after working in various firms that only catered to really high end clients, she came to the realization that a lot of her friends couldn't afford her so she decided to embark on creating a business model that was uniquely tailored to meet the needs of the home owner that wanted to really add style and value to their home but didn't want to break the bank doing it. Five Years later, based on that model Sweet Design Studio is growing at an amazing rate, and continues to bring forth a unique approach to the industry.
What types of customers have you worked with?
From Saudi Arabian Palaces and Celebrity Homes, to a simple Bathroom remodel and color consultation, we have worked with a great scope of clients always delivering quality service and most of all great design no matter the budget.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
We are currently working on a series of AirBnB Condos in the beautiful city of Santa Monica Beach California, and I must say that working on these projects has been quite enjoyable and very rewarding. Santa Monica is quite a costly city to live in so the spaces are a bit snug however the homeowners are really providing a unique experience allowing us to transform these places into quite the vacation spots.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Redesigning a home or space can be quite challenging so our advice first and foremost would be learn as much as you can about the look and feel of what you are looking for, some people like modern styles while their spouses like a more traditional look, compromises can always be made if you have the right knowledge about the style and feel you want for your home, also if you are remodeling various areas of your home be sure to be aware that there will be construction, so plan ahead for that, sometimes construction can take some time and that can get frustrating. Ask a lot of questions, our first consultations are free and we take the time to find out whether we are a good fit for the client so don't hesitate to ask, we believe that synergy is a critical part of hiring a designer, and the process should be an enjoyable one. Lastly don't rush into anything work with your designer into making the right decisions work with the process and you'll be happy with the result, after all the designer's job is to make sure you are happy with your home for years to come.
